Clay Tawa (Deep Burned Black Pottery)
This is a handmade clay tawa made from naturally excavated clay using the traditional double firing or deep burning process. The clay is naturally alkaline, which helps to balance the acidity of the food while preserving minerals such as iron, phosphorus, and magnesium. The porous surface of the clay tawa ensures even distribution of heat and moisture, so the food is well-cooked without burning. Ideal for a clay tawa to cook rotis, dosas, and other foods.
What makes it different?
- Fired twice at nearly 1200°C with wood and hay
- Naturally turns black during the process
- Stronger and more durable than regular red clay cookware
- Safe for high temperatures on a gas stove
